Canadian Engineers for Tomorrow :

Engineering Enrolment and Degrees Awarded Report

Engineers Canada conducts an annual survey of Canada's undergraduate and postgraduate university engineering programs.

Survey data is compiled into a report that assesses trends in engineering enrolment and degrees awarded over a five-year period. Research on engineering enrolment has been conducted in various forms since the 1970s, allowing long-term trend analysis and reporting to be performed.

Research findings highlight enrolment trends in part-time and full-time engineering programs, depict enrolment trends by discipline, gender, and institution, and determine the number of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees awarded each year.

In addition to providing statistics on enrolment and degrees awarded, the enrolment report also typically examines an issue or topic related to engineering education. The most recent report, Canadian Engineers for Tomorrow: Trends in Engineering Enrolment and Degrees Awarded 2004 to 2008, assesses assistance programs available through Canadian universities for the integration of international engineering graduates into the Canadian labour force.
