Established in 1989 following the tragic death of 14 women at École Polytechnique, the Canadian Engineering Memorial Foundation (CEMF) offers scholarships and awards that encourage young women to choose engineering as a career.
The Foundation believes that engineering will succeed in meeting society's needs and challenges by being a truly inclusive and diversified professional body, and that one way to achieve this is to attract women to the engineering profession.
The Canadian Engineering Memorial Foundation was launched under the stewardship of CCPE, who administered it until 1998, when a part-time Executive Director was hired. Engineers Canada continues to handle all of the accounting functions for the Foundation.
