On April 8 and 9,
the Canadian Engineering Qualifications Board (CEQB) met in Ottawa to
communicate, report and move forward with its strategic objectives.
Of the many
accomplishments resulting from the meeting, the CEQB:
Ø Held a well-attended, interactive workshop
to discuss the definition of engineering.
Ø Agreed that the Practice Committee will
assist in developing the definition of engineering, which will be later shown
to the constituent members (CMs) for consideration.
Ø Approved that the draft Interpretive Guide
on the Preparation of an Individual Continuing Professional Development Plan be
circulated to the CMs for comment prior to finalization.
Ø Received a report on the use of the
Inter-Association Mobility Agreement (IAMA) and the notwithstanding clause for
the year 2005.
Engineers Canada is proud to
be a Gold Sponsor of the 11th CCWESTT National Conference for the
Advancement of Women in Engineering, Science, Trades and Technology, which is
being held in Calgary, Alberta from June 22-25.
The conference
provides a forum for participants to gain leadership skills, network with other
dynamic colleagues and celebrate women's achievements in science, engineering,
trades and technology.
The theme of
this year's conference, "Producing Influential Leaders," will inspire
women in the science, trades and technology sectors, as they will receive
valuable advice from highly recognized and established industry and academic
leaders.

Engineers Canada is pleased
to announce that we've made some updates and improvements to our website: www.engineerscanada.ca
It's now quicker
and easier to locate our Expense Reimbursement Policy and Claim Form, which has
been added to the main page of our site under the "Engineers Canada" drop down
menu.
Additionally,
we've added the Calendar of Events to the "Public Affairs" drop down
menu and have re-worked the calendar structure so it is more user-friendly and
informative. Events within the calendar are now classified by category and
timeframe and are displayed in reverse chronological order. When applicable,
scheduled events also include a link to pertinent e-mail and website addresses.
Finally, we've
added a link to "Information Videos - Potential to Prosperity", an
online resource from the Canadian Foundation for Economic Education (CFEE).
Video vignettes showcase the stories and experiences of immigrants who have
gone through the process of credential assessment and recognition to earn their
professional engineering designation (P.Eng.). The videos are intended to help
newcomers learn more about the processes, available tools, resources, and
services that will enable them to integrate more effectively into Canada's
labour force and build a successful future in their chosen career field.
We hope you find
these web updates valuable.
